Historical powder pigment, suitable for acrylic binders, tempera and gouache.
Azurite is preferably used in aqueous distemper colours. The pigment turns green in oil and can be used fresh in lime.
Azurite is the oldest blue pigment, used almost worldwide long before the application of lapis lazuli. Azurite, also known as mountain blue or copper glaze, is a basic copper carbonate.
The blue shade of azurite is greener than lapis lazuli.
