Balsam turpentine oil is an essential oil obtained from the balsam of pine trees by means of steam distillation. Repeated distillation yields particularly pure (rectified) turpentine oils.
Balsam turpentine oil dissolves most resins, mixes with essential and fatty oils and varnish and is therefore widely used in engineering, especially for the production of varnishes and for thinning oil paints.
Note: Store turpentine oil in opaque bottles!
