ELSEC Environment Monitors / Handheld Measuring Devices
The handheld measuring devices from ELSEC (Littlemore Scientific, United Kingdom) have been specifically developed for the monitoring and preservation of cultural heritage.
Littlemore Scientific has been designing and manufacturing scientific measuring instruments since the 1950s, originally for research at the University of Oxford, and has produced dedicated UV and light meters for museums and conservation applications for more than 50 years.
Depending on the model, ELSEC handheld instruments can measure the following environmental parameters: visible light (Lux / Foot-candles), ultraviolet (UV) radiation, UV content relative to visible light (µW/Lumen), temperature, relative humidity, thermal infrared (IR) radiation.
Selected models also feature an integrated data logger, enabling automatic long-term monitoring with measurement data stored internally and exported via USB in CSV format for documentation and analysis.
Thanks to their compact design, high measurement accuracy and simple operation, ELSEC handheld measuring devices have become established tools in museums, archives, libraries, galleries and conservation laboratories worldwide for preventive conservation and environmental monitoring.
