Review IIC 2017 Student & Emerging Conservator Conference

Deffner & Johann has been funding a Germany scholarship for students of the restoration sciences for more than 5 years. In addition to financial support, we encourage and support our fellows each year in benefiting from our market and industry expertise, to expand their networks, to work truly interdisciplinary and to establish global contacts amongst peers and industry leaders.

Marc Holly Deutschlandstipendiat of Deffner & Johann 2016/2017, talks about his experiences as a participant of the IIC Student & Emerging Conservator Conference, which we made possible for him within the framework of the funding. We thank Marc for the interesting feedback and the enthusiasm about the international exchange he experienced!

»From October 12 to 14 the fourth IIC 2017 Student & Emerging Conservator Conference was held at the Hochschule der Künste Bern. The Conference brought together students and young professionals with experienced conservators and scientist in the field of Art- and Cultural Heritage Conservation. In three Sessions based on the Quote „Head, Hands and Hearts“ active discussions where held in the HBK but also with students via the Internet.

The Sessions were complemented by visits in the local museums and institutions, the workshops at HKB, a city tour and a meeting with the delegates from ECCO (European Confederation of Conservator-Restorers' Organisations). The conference was a remarkable experience for all visitors, with great discussions, exchange and networking.«

We are proud to support such a outstanding event and looking forward for the fifth IIC Student Conference in 2019.
