General information on the production and application of Ottosson Artists’ Linseed Oil Paints
In 2001, Ottosson Färgmakeri AB invested in a new factory. The production facilities were improved such that a special linseed oil paint could now be offered to artists. The range comprises 44 shades.
Manufacture
The binder for Ottosson Artists Linseed Paint is cold pressed, aged linseed oil of the highest quality. All pigments used are light fast. All the colours contain, as indicated, true colour pigments and are not replaced by similar-looking, cheaper colouring agents. Cobalt blue contains real cobalt aluminate. Colour pigments and linseed oil are mixed and ground in a mill. The colours, depending on the pigment, are ground 1 - 4 times and then filled into tubes.
Use
The colour is used as a traditional artist paint on canvas and panel and is suitable for all types of decorative paintings on wood and metal. The colour can also be used as toner for Ottosson Linseed Oil Paints used as Architectural coatings. When using the colour as a toner or paint on wood or metal, take a tin or glass vessel and press a little colour onto its base. Now add a little linseed oil and perhaps 1 % desiccant. The linseed oil and the paste is then mixed to produce a uniform colour. The consistency of the finished colour should be like "Swedish sour milk" to be.
