Methocel™ A4C, 100 g
Water-soluble methyl cellulose thickener, yields an medium viscosity of 400 mPas at low addition levels.
Used as a binder, e.g. for coatings, varnishes and paints, enhances film formation properties for higher strength and improved finish durability.

Methocel™ is used as a thickening and dispersing additive in many formulations. Same applies due to its viscosity regulating properties. Methocel™ is fully soluble in water.
Methyl cellulose regulates the water content in mixtures and ensures the required viscosity. For example, when dry mortar or plaster is mixed with water, it prevents it from clumping and gives it the right uniform consistency to stick to the wall.
In conservation and restoration, cellulose ethers are also used to consolidate layers of paint.
